The famous and controversial site http://www.beautifulpeople.com/ launches one of its glamorous parties, this time in Madrid. Worldwide exclusive clubs welcome this events. Few days ago the party took place at the elitist Aura Mayfair Club, in London http://www.auramayfair.com/
The procedure to join this internet social club is that an applicant's photo and profile is posted for three days. Members grade candidates of the opposite sex deciding if the applicant is enough beautiful to become a member or not. Appealing personal and professional qualities are considered too. The criteria seems somehow superficial and discriminatory against ugliness. But the fact is that the membership procedure is democratic because members decide with their votes. Therefore, whereas on the one hand BP pretends to be genuine and on the other its detractors label it as shameful, in fact, there is nothing scandalous at all, since there are many different profile clubs on the internet: uglies, intelligents, poshers, flashiers, simple-minded, freaks, etc. This is the internet, you know. I am member of this site for two years and I am proud of it because I in my oppinion there is nothing wrong about attach importance to beauty, whatever form it takes.
